October 25, 2026—I've begun Background Sampler 1, a 1999 design by David McCaskill. It has everything I enjoy in stitching: geometric, symmetrical patterns, a sampler's variety of stitches, a satisfying challenge without being overwhelming, and a lovely mix of threads. This is my second project by McCaskill; the first was Journey, his 2010 design (read my earlier post about it here).
With the outline complete, I'm ready to fill in each section. I've
chosen a sea foam colorway.
All the counting is finally done—now for the fun part! Whew!
